Voussoir Grasshopper – Pre-Launch Workshop

The workshop tested the Voussoir plugin’s intuitiveness through unguided use, followed by a stereotomy presentation. Participants created experimental projects, some AI‑illustrated, and concluded with shared discussions over lunch on workflow potential.

This internal workshop at DFL aimed to test the usability and intuitiveness of the Voussoir plugin for Grasshopper before its public release. Participants were invited to use the plugin in a first instance without any prior explanation or guidance, allowing the research team to observe the initial impact of the interface, workflow logic, and semantic structure of the tool.

After this exploratory phase, a presentation introduced the theoretical background of stereotomic design and explained the main functionalities and organisational principles of the plugin. Participants then developed a series of experimental projects using Voussoir, exploring different stereotomic configurations and geometries. Some of these proposals were further illustrated with the support of AI image generation tools, helping to speculate on materiality, atmosphere, and architectural applications.

The workshop concluded with a shared lunch, providing an informal moment for discussion and reflection on the experience, the usability of the plugin, and the broader potential of computational stereotomy workflows within architectural design and BIM environments.
